PURDY EATON

Born in 1973 in Lafayette, Indiana, Purdy Eaton is a multi-media artist including painting, photography, and video painting. With American painting as her starting point, the Hudson River School artists in particular, Eaton paints simple quotidian rural scenes that are make a comment on contemporary culture. The seriousness of her sentiments is accented by her wit and irony.

Purdy Eaton received an M.F.A from Hunter College, City University of New York, an M.P.H. from Yale University, New Haven, and a B.S. from Indiana University, Bloomington. She lives and works in New York City. Since 2003, she has been exhibited nationwide and her works are included in museum collections such as 21C Museum, Louisville, KY and in Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, Lafayette.
